Wangari Kebuchi joined world leaders at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, moderating the Sustainable Trade Africa Event, organised by the UAE Trade Center and DCG, in partnership with Afreximbank, KOBiA, and the AFCFTA Secretariat.

Wangari further engaged with key stakeholders, including heads of state, industry leaders, policymakers, development financiers, private sector executives, academics, youth, and civil society representatives, to discuss strategies for aligning African trade with climate goals, attracting investment, and exploring fiscal policies and public finance solutions to help African governments align their climate efforts with global objectives.

She highlighted how effective fiscal policies, when aligned with data transparency, can strengthen accountability, improve public sector performance, and contribute to sustainable development in Kenya.

She also underscored the vital role of fiscal policy and effective public finance management in bridging the R&D funding shortfall.
